Following the successful trip to IMM Cologne our designers travelled to Paris for a two day whirlwind trip to Maison et Objet, a trade fair dedicated to lifestyle, decoration and design. The show didn’t fail to impress with its 8 halls packed with the latest designs from around the world.

FROM maison et objet

Here's a sum-up of key trends we picked up along the way...

Maison et Objet is renowned for showcasing contemporary trends that take the interior industry by storm. One vibe that was significant throughout the fair was the eclectic interiors with a mix of decadent finishes paired with rustic details. The range of concepts delivered into awe-inspiring pieces have inspired us to challenge the trends of 2017 and mix up the accessories and upholstery, encompassing those must have global vibes into our schemes.

It’s safe to say the range of pastel colours at Maison et Objet did not fail to impress. Soft pinks and natural greens were scattered across the fair to soften the intense colours of key pieces and to in-turn create a range of hues. A design obsession we snapped and papped incorporated soft pink velvet with a curved structure which we found gave an elegant impression to the space.

Leafy greens and small succulents were key features throughout the fair with the attention being drawn away from bold florals which we have seen at previous shows. Planters are a great way to bring life to a home and can help to create an organic relaxed space, at BoxNine7 we are obsessed with bringing the outside in.

In the room sets, we were inspired by the range of metals and finishes combined. The contrast of raw black iron and brass paired with glass brought a sophisticated and contemporary feeling to the spaces through the use of these mixed textures and tones.
