MEET THE TEAM

Introducing Tori, our Associate Director here at BoxNine7. Tori joined our team in 2021 with a rich background of industry experience, including working for an international design house- where she collaborated with a multitude of high-net worth clients within the design and build industry. Not to mention that Tori has also worked within the project management and consultancy side of the industry, particularly within Central London, making her a well-rounded, experienced, and knowledgeable member of BoxNine7.

Hi Tori, thank you for joining us today! So tell us, how did you get into the interior design industry?

After studying Accounting and Management at University, I decided to follow one of my passions, property, and started working in the Central London residential team for JLL, a large international firm with a great social scene! After having the opportunity to see so many unique homes through our clients, I decided that what really made me tick was seeing all the beautiful (and the not so beautiful but perhaps even more memorable!) interior design throughout these properties. So a few years later, I decided to take my property knowledge and side step into the interiors world, starting out at a Chelsea design studio. Here we were working with private clients on both interior design and construction projects, so this really helped to give me a full understanding of a project from start to finish, and everything in between. I then had a super exciting opportunity to join the fabulous AGC BTR and BoxNine7 team and tie all my role experiences into one. Working across the BoxNine7 and BTR brands means I have the opportunity to work with private clients, developers and other institutional clients, and have the ability to maximise their experience and value through interior design.

I love the journey I’ve been on so far, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with some truly talented people who have been a source of inspiration along the way.

Designers often take inspiration from what’s around them. Which building would you say inspires you the most?

I admire any historic building which has been adapted for reuse. I was once invited to stay in a converted St John’s Ambulance Station in Rye, and the addition of modern glass against the exposed bricks and textured materials was so pleasing on the eye.

You also can’t forget how impressive London architecture is. Remembering to look up when walking around fills you with a sense of admiration and respect for architects and designers who were doing this many, many years ago.

Sustainability is something we are really working towards here at BoxNine7. Are there any sustainable brands that you have discovered recently that you enjoy?

I try to avoid buying new where possible, which isn’t an easy challenge. However, when you find something you love in excellent pre-owned condition, it’s deeply satisfying. A new favourite of mine is Endless Wardrobe, although they sell new clothes, their model encourages the circular economy by offering nearly-new and rental options.

The one artist whose work you would collect if you could?

I’m drawn to bold and colourful artwork, but one artist that’s stuck with me is Michael Zavros. After seeing his Phoenix and Mock Orange oil paintings in an exhibition, I fell in love with the detail and reality that he is able to paint. Truly an incredible talent and impressive to see up close.

A place you can’t wait to go back to and why?

I visited Mallorca recently, hiring a convertible Fiat 500, and after scouting out some stunning beaches, our top spot was Port de Soller. After swerving down breath taking mountain roads and local Mallorca villages, you end up in a beautiful seaside town. I spent the day swimming in the crystal-clear water, then strolling to a nearby waterfront restaurant for a sangria at sundown overlooking the marina, interrupted only by the hustle of a local tram. I love discovering what Europe has to offer!

What can we look forward to from BoxNine7?

There are some really exciting projects we’re currently working on but until we can rave about them, our recently completed project, The Bryanston, Hyde Park is definitely something to get excited about. The bold and welcoming show home appeals to the senses, with the charming use of colour, texture and styling making you want to explore each room. Our designers have stepped into the shoes of the resident and filled the space in the most inviting way. This is one we’ll all want to experience.

Tori’s Top Favourites…

Style Icon?

I would adore walking into Carrie Bradshaw’s wardrobe every morning. She wears her style with such elegance and confidence and manages to pull off the wildest and most wonderful outfits.

Autumn Activity?

I love this season when everything starts to change, so I think it’s a perfect excuse to start re-styling at home. It seems perfectly acceptable to close off the outside world, cook a big hearty meal, get the candles glowing and cosy up at home!

Social Platform for Inspo?

Staying true to Pinterest! Recipes seem to be my biggest downfall and can reel me in for hours.

Podcast?

My go-to tends to be Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s Feel Better Live More. I end up getting hooked on the current topic, obsess, and try to learn everything there is to know before moving on to the next.
